Biography
I am a positive person, that believes in the benefits of living an active happy lifestyle. My family likes to keep busy - my teenaged boys play football, we train at our own kickboxing gyms, and we LOVE going to watch the Calgary Stampeders games! GO STAMPS GO!
I have my current First Aid/CPR and police check. I have my Child Assistant Certificate (formerly known as Early Childhood Education Level 1). I also have numerous certificates for workshops and courses I have taken thru various organizations but mainly the High River Parent Link Centre.
I was heavily involved in the McKenzie Area Dayhome Providers Group and maintained the group website, network from April 2006 to January 2017. I organized workshops for providers to continue with professional development and organizational meetings to share ideas whether it be meal planning, the approved method for sanitizing toys and equipment or craft ideas. I still attend meetings, workshops and an active member of the organization.

My Dayhome Philosophy
I have a lot of experience working with both typical and non-typical children over the past 20 years working with children whether it be in my dayhome or in a school setting.
In my own personal experiences I feel that children respond well to having routines - within reason. Our day to day routine is laid out the same way chronologically but I definitely mix things up when it comes to activities for developing fine and gross motor skills, speech, socializing, manners etc to keep things exciting for the kids.
I have many themes throughout the year which include holidays as well as general topics such as Winter and we create snowflakes out of pipecleaners/beads, use puffy paint to make beautiful snowmen pictures or bring bins of fresh snow inside to make snowcastles using different cups, bowls etc.
I believe that all children are special and unique and it is my goal to provide children with a safe environment that nurtures self- esteem, security and promotes learning and growth through hands on play and discovery.
I encourage parents to discuss expectations they have for their child and myself and I am always open to any feedback and suggestions. The proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" really defines the sense of community I feel we need to work together and establish a great relationship.
